I'm still here!

Well, it's been quite awhile since I updated here. I've been very busy and making lots of changes in my life, so the blog kinda fell to the wayside. I've still been shopping and saving like always though!

I have big news! I will be teaching a couponing class this month at my best friend's church! I'm very excited and am preparing materials for the class presently. There will be at least one door prize (cause free stuff is awesome!). Hopefully, everyone will learn a lot. If this class goes well, I hope to hold a class on drugstore deals later.

So, for anyone still reading this blog, I'm taking suggestions for what you would want to learn at a couponing class. Feel free to email me or leave a comment below. Thanks!

Food Lion -- saved 42%

I went to Food Lion last week to take advantage of their deal on charcoal: buy Kingsford and get FREE Hidden Valley Ranch or KC Masterpiece. I also had some coupons to take even better advantage of the deal. I know some people don't like Food Lion because they don't double coupons or offer a lot of BOGO deals, but I've done really well shopping there regardless.

Trip summary: I did two transactions to maximize my number of FREEBIES. I also had some coupons that could not be used together in the same transaction. I was able to get 3 FREE Hidden Valley Ranch; 2 from the deal and 1 by coupon. Go to GatherRoundTheGrill to get FREE item coupons to use when buying KingsFord.

I bought 1 whole chicken, 3 bottles of Hidden Valley Ranch (FREE), 10lbs of Russet potatoes, 3 gallons of skim milk (almost $15!), 4 boxes of FL Mac&Cheese (FREE), 2 cans of Campbell's Chicken noodle (FREE), 1 box of ice cream pops, approx 4lbs of ground chuck, 2 small containers of Skinny Cow ice cream (25 cents total), 2 bags of KingsFord briquets, 2lbs of carrots, 2 18oz boxes of Cheerios, 1 Vlasic pickle spears, and 3lbs of pork ribs (just $1.30!).

Total before savings and coupons: $102.52
Total out of pocket: $57.98
------------------------------
saved 42% --- I may have saved even more; when my Food Lion does markdowns, they only show the lowest price on the receipt, not the original, higher price. I was also glad I did this in Georgia; very little food tax helps with the savings.

Bi-lo --- saved 54%

Bi-lo is open really late and it's just across the street, so I stopped by there too on Wednesday night. Since it was late, I didn't pick up much.

Trip summary: I bought 2 4lb bags of Dixie sugar and about 6lbs of pork chops. I haven't bought much pork lately, except for ham, because the prices have been outrageous. I try to pay under $2/lb.

Total before savings and coupons: $27.55
Total out of pocket: $12.70
----------------------------
saved 54% ---- it's nice being able to save on the essentials!

Publix --- saved 51%

Well, I had to go shopping solo yesterday. My friend had to work late :( I got to the store luckily before closing. I did two transactions.

Trip summary #1: I bought 4 Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers. Grandpa loves the corn!

Total before savings and coupons: $9.76
Total out of pocket: $1.00
-----------------------------
saved 90%

Trip summary #2: I bought 4 bags of Baked Lays and 10 cans of Campbells Chunky soup.

Total before savings: $40.77
Total out of pocket: $24.51
--------------------------
saved 40% --- not bad for no coupons!

Overall, I saved 51% this week!

Mail Call! P&G and Lane Bryant

Got some nice stuff in the mail today. I got another $15 off $15 coupon from Lane Bryant. They are having a sale right now, buy 1, get 1 50% off on all shorts and crops. I may have to go use this coupon!

I also got a nice sample box from Proctor and Gamble. It came from P&GEverydaySolutions through the P&GbrandSAMPLER section. You must be a member of P&GEverydaySolutions to request samples. The samples are great and you get some sweet coupons. I got a can of Iam's cat food, 3 Pampers diapers, and a sample of pink lemonade flavor Metamucil. I really like the $3 coupon for medium or large size Tide and the $1 coupon off ANY Tide. I requested other samples, so I'll just have to wait to see if I get them. P&G does limit how often you can get samples; you'll need to wait at least 90 days inbetween requests.

Mail Call! CVS

I've gotten two great flyers in the mail from CVS. The first one is a $1.50 store coupon for ANY Kotex! Since it is a store coupon, I can combine it with a manufacturer's coupon for extra savings. The second flyer was a new CVS card. CVS just spontaneously decided to send me one in case my old one was too ragged to use anymore. They also included a $5 off a $30 purchase coupon!

I got both these flyers by connecting my CVS online account to my CVS ExtraCare card. I highly recommend doing this. Last week, they emailed me a $4 off $20 purchase coupon and that wasn't the first time they have sent me special savings. When I went to check my CVS online account, they let me print out my quarterly earnings too! It's also worth a visit to check out their coupons: they are a mix of store and manufacturer coupons.

Publix ---- saved 76%

I've been going shopping with a friend most Wednesdays lately. I didn't really need anything this week, but I did help her find some good deals.

Trip summary:
I bought Muellers Whole Wheat spaghetti and a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (BOGO). I found a little coupon book at Food Lion yesterday with a .75 store coupon for B&J; look at the front for a "green" coupon book.

Total before savings: $5.21
Total out of pocket: $1.25
---------------------------
saved 76% ---- My friend saved about 45%; I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of good coupons in my area. It's making it hard to save more for her; she's a little pickier than I am about brands.

Walgreens --- saved 67%!

I went to Walgreens today. Needed some eggs, and Walgreens always has them for .99 around here (that's even cheaper than Aldi).

Trip summary:
I bought eggs, 3 Schick shave gels (free after RR this week), and 2 $30 bottles of Osteo Bi-flex (BOGO this week). I started out with $5 RR from earlier and did separate transactions for 2 of the Schick for more RR.

Total before savings and coupons: $75.80
Total out of pocket: $24.71
-------------------------------
saved 67% --- I still have $3 RR for later

Kmart Super Doubles!

This week, some Kmarts will be having Super Doubles (please call before you leave to confirm with your store). If you have your ShopYourWay Rewards card, you can double 5 coupons per day! Best of all, you can double coupons valued up to $2 (doubles to $4)! This makes it really easy to get high dollar items free or cheap.

Make sure to scrounge around your coupon binders; coupons that come with samples and promotions and internet printable coupons are usually worth more than newspaper coupons. Time 2 Save has compiled a really great list of deals with newspaper and printable coupons here. Thanks, Time 2 Save!

**Make sure you let the clerk know which 5 coupons to double if you are using more than 5 coupons for your transaction! I suggest handing those over first.**

Mail Call! Arm & Hammer and The Melting Pot

I got a nice little sample from Arm & Hammer today. It is a .9oz tube of their Advance White toothpaste in Brilliant Sparkle. They also included a special survey code; 100 of the survey takers will win an Arm & Hammer gift set. It looks like this sample is still available! Please see my earlier post here for directions.

I also got a flyer from a new restaurant nearby, The Melting Pot. It has a $20 coupon towards their new menu. They also have a membership club called Club Fondue. When you sign up, you'll get a FREE Chocolate Fondue for two! Sign up here.

Bi-lo --- saved 74%!

I went to Bi-lo yesterday. I haven't done much shopping these last two weeks; the prep for my sister's wedding took up most all my time. Luckily, we had our stockpile to fall back on. I was even able to feed some of our friends, that came for the wedding, without any problems. Of course, now I need to build the stockpile back up!

Trip summary:
I bought a box of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal, Philadelphia creme cheese minis, an 8 1/2 pound ham shank, 6 boxes of Green Giant frozen veggies, and 7 bags of Green Giant Steamfresh veggies. I had some awesome coupons, so 9 of my 16 items were FREE!

Total before savings and coupons: $46.80
Total out of pocket: $12.15
-------------------------

I got a nice little sample pack from True Lemon. It included two packs of True Lemon and one each of True Lime and True Orange. They also included a $1 coupon with NO expiration date! These products are not available at all grocery stores, so go here to find your local source. This sample is still available, get yours here!

Coupon reset coming soon!

Mail Call! Kashi

I got another nice little cereal sample from Kashi today. It's a box of GoLean Crunch in Honey Almond Flax flavor. They also included a $1 coupon for the TLC bars or cereal. I was surprised to see this sample, because I signed up for it after the promotion was supposed to have ended. If you would like to see if you'll get a sample too, go here. Just be aware that you may not receive anything!

New Olay Rebate Offer + a deal this week!

Olay has a new rebate for 100% back on Olay Quench body lotion (any size except trial). You need to buy the lotion between 3/19 and 4/16 and send in the rebate form by 4/30. I love these rebates! I get a great item and ALL my money back (sans tax).

There is a great deal this week at Walgreens to take advantage of this rebate. The Olay Quench body lotion is on sale for $7.99 (reg. $9.99) and you get a FREE bottle of Olay Quench In-shower body lotion (reg. $4.99) with purchase! So, with the rebate, you'll get two FREE items and $7.99 back in the mail. Now, that alone is a great deal, but you can make it even sweeter by using coupons! Check the 2/14 RedPlum and 3/7 P&G inserts for $1 coupons. You should be able to use a coupon on both items, but some cashiers/stores may not allow this. In the end, you may be able to get both items for $5.99 AND get back $7.99 from Olay for a $2 profit (save even more if you have Register Rewards).

(Thanks to IHeartWags for the deal info!)

*Don't forget the Olay Pro-X $20 rebate is still ongoing!*
